My hair is falling out and I live near a power line.?

Okay I am 15 years old, turning 16 in a week or so. I know I am too young to be losing the amount of hair I do. I take a shower and I see how much hair I am losing, yeah I know it is normal for people to lose hair but I know not anywhere near as much as I do. When I lose hair the root isn't connected, it is just the hair. I am not balding, my hair grows in real thick, but I don't have it long. My mom, dad, and brother also lose hair but not as much as me. We thought it was the power lines outside our house, you know the ones on streets. They are about 30 feet from our house. Is it the power lines or is it just me? I have wanted to know for a few years now.

I don't think it has anything to do with power lines. Losing hair is normal. If your hair is really thick that it makes sense that you lose more hair than the other members of your family.....

hmmmmm... interesting. I dont think that the power lines would have anything to do with it. The electric field lines are not that big... you said that it is happening in the shower, so my guess would be to switch to an all-natural safe shampoo. Whatever you are using probably is too rough and is "breaking" your hair. Look for shampoos with aloe, and keratin which is the strength protein found in hair.

This isnt really an answer but i was wondering the same thing. since the new school was built accross the street from where i live and there are are double maybe ever triple the power lines, my hair loss has increased to a rated that has got me worried. If anyone has an answer i would be interested too.

You could be exposed to radiation. Radiation makes hair fall out just like radiation does in cancer patients when they get radiation to kill cancer cells. Power line radiation can even cause cancer too. I would move if I can or complain. It is dangerous.

Here is more info

Some research has found that exposure to elevated levels of ELF magnetic fields such as those originating from electric power transmission lines may be implicated in a number of adverse health effects. These include, but are not limited to, childhood leukemia [8], adult leukemia[9], breast cancer[10], neurodegenerative diseases (such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)[11][12][13], Miscarriage[14][15][16], and clinical depression. Although there seems to be a small statistical correlation between various diseases and living near power lines, the physical mechanism is not clear. One proposed mechanism is that the electric fields around power lines attract aerosol pollutants.[17][18]

One possible response to the potential dangers of overhead power lines is to place them underground. According to the British Stakeholder Advisory Group on ELF EMFs[19], the cost of burying cables at transmission voltages costs is around GBP 10M/km, compared to GBP 0.5-1M/km for overhead lines.

Underground cables eliminate the electric field and reduce the width over which the magnetic field is elevated.[20] However, in reality, protection from the dangers of electromagnetic (EM) fields is seldom the driving concern when burying power lines.

The strongest evidence linking EMF to cancer was fabricated. Most people, when quizzed, have heard of the link between EMF's and cancer, but relatively few people have heard of the fabricated data leaving a public perception that power lines are far more dangerous than they are.

Cover the walls of your room with aluminum foil this will block the EMF.
