Cat hair lose question?

why would my cat hair in the back around the tail area fall out? at first it looked like someone took an electric clippers to the back end of her but now its more hair lose and its got me concerned. she is a scary cat. and she does eat but shes not gaining to much weight which is also weird because her sister weights alot and she's not lose any of her fur. also she is the baby in the litter.

Is she stressed? do other cats chase her or is she fearful? Cats can lose hair when they are under a lot of stress. she could be pulling it out herself, does she lick or chew that area? She may have a virus or bacteria, perhaps a skin condition. You should definitely take her to a vet as soon as possible. If she is ill it could spread to the other cats. Have her checked out right away. If that is not an option, call the vet and ask for advice. Also you could search on veterinarian sites for advice.

my one cat has the same problem! i talked to my vet teacher about it and she had said it maybe mites.

It could be several things, so the best advice would be to have a vet check her out. My cat lost fur around her head. Her hair loss was due to food allergies. After some medication to soothe the itch and heal the area. We changed her food brand until we food one that did affect her allergies.It was a couple month process but the cat does fine now.

Sometimes hair loss around the tail can be due to fleas. So you might want to see if that is the problem.
