Can anthing be done for female hair loss due to ungeractive thyroid? I take thyroxine but am still l

I've tried several products but none seem to work. I;ve noticed that although the subject of thyroid problems is sometimes mentioned, they all seem to shy away from saying whether the product works for this condition or not. Am I doomed to be bald? Please help.

You may to have your dose adjusted. I lost almost all of my hair when I was first diagnosed....so embarrassing. It took a little while to get the dosage right but now I have my very thick hair back.

Tell your doc about it and he/she should do another T4 to see how your levels are looking.

Good luck, I feel your pain, honey!!

Funny I am not taking any at all right now and I feel great..Who knows

I was diagnosed hypothyroid 15 years ago aged 24 by which time my thyroid gland was non-productive. I had lost about two thirds of my hair. It did take a few years to get back to normal but once your levels are balanced it'll soon pick up. One thing I found very helpful was a Vitamin B supplement - Busy B with C from Holland and Barrett is pricey but excellent. It really made a difference to the condition and thickness of my hair and skin and also boosted my energy levels. Give it a try, and be patient. It will get better but it will take time.

Yes, thee is. It is called Armour thyroid. When I switched to it over 4 years ago, the hairloss stopped. The thinning areas have actually filled it as well. Below are links that will explain Armour for you. If you have any questions, I can be contacted through yahoo answers. Armour helps with symptoms such as; hairloss, brai fog, depression, fatigue, and muscle and joint aches

A continued loss of hair signifies a continued problem. Supplementing synthetic hormones is sometimes beneficial, sometimes not.

You may want to try natural hormone, or a combo of synthetic and natural with 2% T3, 98% T4 as a good range to start.

So that is how you change up your meds to see what works best.

You also need to find out what is causing the problem and try to manage that.

For example, if high levels of E1 estrogen are inhibiting the use of thyroid hormone at the cellular level by increasing the proteins that bind to thyroid hormone, then you would need to address that problem.

Even if you found that the medication helped your hair grow back and limit the symptoms of the thyoid hormone problem by creating more hormone that "pushes" through the problem, you would still want to get your estrogen levels in check, since these high levels can cause things like breast cancer, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, etc.
