I am 29 years old, have a one year old daughter and my hair is still falling out?

I know that you sometimes lose hair with hormonal changes after a baby is born, but I am losing hair even now. My daughter just turned 1. I take a shower or just brush my hair or even run my hands through it and I have several strands on my hand brush or whatever. My sink is covered with it and I constantly removing it from my clothing.

I am starting to think maybe its a vitamin deficiency or something like that. Anyone have any suggestions or have you ever dealt with this? Am I going bald slowly? Maybe someone can reccomend a vitamin, shampoo or food that I should be getting more of to curb this hair loss. Thank you.

For bariatric patients when they start to loose thier hair after surgery we make sure they are getting enough protein in their diet and also that they are taking b12 you should try those things. Also maybe consult a doctor, that would be the best way to figure out what is going on in your body to cause hair loss.

Good Luck!

it's normal, its just like, old hair that falls out. My mom's hair falls out too. (no she's not old) every one hair that falls out, 2 or three more grow, so dont worry. :]

Im like that to...and in only 15(but i dont have kids)

it could be that your hair is to thick or to heavy or you have to much....i suggest that cut your hair....i did and now my hair falls out wayyyyy less maybe 1 or 2 hairs a day and also having regular hair cuts is good for your hair, it lets your hair re-grow freshly...

I have heard that prenatal vitamins are great for making your hair healthy again. Possible causes of hair loss could be stress, poor nutrition, impromper hair care (using harsh shampoos, permanents, too much blow drying); be good to your hair and treat it as well as you treat your skin, ie, conditioners, good shampoo and eating the right foods.

Erin, this is obviously a very distressing thing to be happening to you. You need to consult professionals on this. They may recommend a full blood screen or a hair analysis test. But firstly, go see your normal doctor and get his opinion as to what is causing the fall out. And, in the mean-time, try not to stress out and worry too much, but definitely get an appointment a.s.a.p.

All the very best!

Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. To treat hair loss apply a little lemon juice with some black tea. Massage well and shampoo.Rub oil into the scalp. Wring out a towel in hot water and wrap it on the head. Keep it on for 15 minutes. Shampoo and dry well. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.

After the birth of my first daughter i had alopecia areata. It caused bald spots all over my head. I was lucky the largest was only the size of a quarter. As quick as the spots would appear i had new hair growth so it was upsetting but no reason for panic. Dr believed it to be caused by stress. I was under a lot of stress for quite some time after she was born.

Then again after the birth of my second daughter i had alopecia but was lucky there were no large spots. Just lots of hair falling out all over. She is almost 3 and now im finally at the point where its getting to be less and less every day.

This time the dr believes it was a result of the birth control i was using.

If you are on birth control then you can let your dr know about this hair loss and see if maybe they can prescribe something with less hormones. Or even a hormone free method.

Eat healthy. A high protein diet is wonderful for your hair.

I am 29 too... age has nothing to do with it.
