I seem to be losing an unusual amount of hair or more than normal for me. Am I losing my hair?

It's summer time here and I am 50 years old. I am not talking just a few strands, but noticeable amounts when showering and combing my hair. I don't see any bald spots but I feel my hair is thinning in the area you would normally see a mohaw! Should I go see a doctor? If so which type of doctor specializes in hair loss?

It is normal to lose between 80 %26amp; 100 hairs in a day. I'm dealing with the same problem (I actually counted the other day while I was getting ready %26amp; I lost 160 hairs). From what I've researched, different medicines can contribute but it can also signal a medical problem like an underactive thyroid. You should call your doctor if you are concerned %26amp; see what they say. It could be something you are already taking, if not, schedule an appointment to get some test run. I'm going next week!

Stress can cause hair loss, so can some illnesses. That happened to me and I found out it was caused by lupus. Please don't get scared just letting you know what happened to me. good luck :)
