Can you still go bald with no family history of hair loss ?
Baldness is carried on the maternal genes, usually - so look at your maternal (mom's side) grandparents - are either of them bald? If so, when did they start balding? It's possible, but not the first thing I'd look at because hair loss can also be due to...
Stress (including depression!)
Diet
Hormones
Weather
Allergies
.....
So in your case it's probably due to other factors.
I'm assuming you're at college? Adding a multivitamin, even the cheap ones, can help a lot with the diet. I know the risks of college salad bars, my sister and I both got food poisoning, so yeah, you end up eating junk all the time.
If other people are complaining of the same problem, it might be some type of microorganism like a yeast setting up on your scalp, though that's unlikely. You could try switching to a dandruff shampoo temporarily and see if that helps. Otherwise a vinegar or lemon juice rinse also kills most stuff that sets up on your scalp, just shampoo then rinse, then pour about 1/2 cup of white vinegar or lemon juice, let it sit for a minute, then rinse out. Don't let it get in your eyes though!
Anyway, I hope something here helps, good luck with it.

Yes, my brother has started to lose his hair. My dad still has a full head of hair, and when my grandfather died he had a full head of hair too.

Can you still go bald with no family history of hair loss ?
Male hair loss has everything to do with testosterone.
If you have a healthy helping of testosterone, (male hormone) you can expect to loose some hair along the way.
You are probably going to find that you loose hair now because your hormones are quite active.

Even though your 18 yes it is, my father had a full head of hair and and i am going bald and i am 40 and started losing my hair at 25 so there is nothing wrong and it had nothing to do with your diet, or it might be cause you wash your hair too much or you keep changing shampoos it could be any number of things, but other wise its normal!! I feel for ya really i do, I wish i did not lose my hair either lol lol!!!
Can you still go bald with no family history of hair loss ?
Even though going bald can be genetic, but from your situation it seems like environmental and diet factors. Junk food can lead to malnutrition necessary for hair growth. Especially when the body lacks sufficient nutrition and blood flow to supply the hair with nutrients, it automatically will fall off because its too weak. Avoid spicy and oily foods. These foods speed up hair loss in your condition. Another thing is the water you mentioned, its possible that there may be chemicals inside the water you are allergic to, and may I ask if you are washing your hair with hot water? Hot water dries up the scalp making it lack of moisture and itchy. Avoid using hair wax or hair cream. It seals off the hair roots with too much oil thus the scalp cant obtain enough oxygen to breathe. Just as our skin needs to breathe, our scalp is part of our skin too. Thats why you should wash your hair when you feel your scalp is oily so that it can wash off the oil and let it breathe. Massage your scalp everyday to enable more blood flow to encourage growth of hair.
Hope this helps.
